I.Simpson About me

Grew up in Aberdeen Scotland, which is the famous hard grey “Silver City” on the outside, but it does have a cosiness by way of family and friends and the familiarity of the place that you grow up in.

So we have a small skinny 14 year old, ex Grammar School boy uprooted and thrust into an even harder environment, a tough little fishing and farming town called Macduff, on the Moray Firth coast, 40 odd miles north of Aberdeen.

My family arrive, and begin a completely new life in this “alien” environment where the dialect is hard and the people harder still. My parents quit teaching, which was spiralling downwards as a profession, for the brave new world of owning and running a small dockside pub.

The uprooting, from middle class life, and being thrown into the seaside fishing town culture is the catalyst, that spurs me on into a life of adventures at sea, and ashore in so many countries and cultures, where my restless and ever inquisitive soul, combined with very little caution, leads to some truly insane situations and encounters, which are used and abused in my musings about a past life, in the reflective pieces of my writing.

The “Near Future Sci Fi” uses my own strange and varied life experiences, to forge a hopefully unique and positive, but different take on the near future through upbeat Sci-Fi, unlike the doom laden negative versions so frequently foretelling apocalypse after apocalypse.

I hope my writing inspires people to “look forward” in both senses of those words, and join me as I stumble forward and pick myself up, and share some laugh’s through life’s great adventure.

Hopefully my stuff raises some awareness of what future possibilities await us, if we just take a breath, and focus on what could be?

Thanks for taking the time to read this..

Time is of course our biggest resource, and we spend it mostly idly.

Too late, we realise this simple concept wasn’t beyond us, it’s now unfortunately behind us.
