The seat looks out
Over the bay
Missing those stories, about far away places
Imagining those characters and their weatherbeaten faces
But its not to be, he isn’t coming back
Not today, or any other day
–
The seat looks out
Over the bay
Waiting patiently for another, giver of light
To hear the struggles and victories of their adventurous fight
Sharing the highs and the lows and misplaced fears
From highs to lows and their accompanying tears
–
The seat looks out
Over the bay
She sits gently down and looks out, with eyes of the deepest of brown
A sigh and a stretch, and over her shoulders she lets her hair down.
In her head drifts a distant song, and without thinking she starts to sing softly
The songs change to words, that start filling in the pieces of her shattered story
–
The seat looks out
Over the bay
Giving peace and support, that private listener for her beautiful soul
Being here in this perfect space, place and time has accomplished a goal
The words are now spent, she feels the relief, now the dark grows near, its time to be leaving
One last look out over the bay, then she gets up with a sigh, time to get on ,time to start grieving
–
The seat looks out
Over the bay
She walks back to her life with a purpose and a plan, children to care for, and a mind on the mend
So now it is satisfied and at peace with itself, one more story to tell to his luminous friend
The moon is now bright and clear, lighting the night sky and above the bay in its luminous glory
It settles down, and gets ready to tell its friend a heart wrenching tale, but its only a story..
